Melissa began her counseling career in 2004 after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology from Oregon Institute of Technology. She received her Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University in 2018. She has worked as a clinical provider within a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Colorado Springs; focused on providing crisis stabilization and trauma processing. She has the experience of working with people from all walks of life. She understands each story is personal and unique. She works tirelessly in helping each individual reach their mental wellbeing goals, no matter where they are starting from.
Melissa is experienced in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma and affairs, marriage and family therapy, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She specializes in the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, child abuse, family violence, sexual assault, and civilian and military trauma.
Melissa was raised in a small community in Southern Oregon, where she initially began her career in counseling. She has been married for 22 years and has three children. Her spouse currently serves in the United States Army and has been on active duty for 16 years.
In her spare time Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, running, meditating and completing household projects. She is passionate about paying it forward, seeing joy spread around the community.
