Susan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in Colorado. She completed her Master’s degree in Counseling at Salem State University in the Boston area and is experienced and trained in individual, family, and group therapy. Susan has previously worked in an outpatient community mental health setting where she enjoyed working with children, adolescents, families, and in the school environment.
Susan’s therapeutic approach involves treating people as a whole: mind, body, and spirit, which allows them to develop a deeper understanding of themselves and those around them. She believes that at the core of therapeutic work is the relationship between the therapist and the client. This is an essential variable in helping her clients achieve progress. Through use of warmth, curiosity, reflection, and humor, she strives to create a collaborative and supportive environment to empower her clients and to help them to explore their concerns, develop insight, and move toward positive growth.
With an eclectic style of therapy that includes various therapeutic orientations in which she has been trained, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness, Susan assists her clients in identifying their strengths, learning the skills necessary for symptom management, and expanding their sense of self so that they may lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives. Susan provides a non-judgmental style and approach to help her clients navigate through a spectrum of challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, ADHD, trauma, interpersonal and relational conflicts, transition, and life changes.
In her free time, Susan enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga and meditation, hiking, walking, reading, and traveling.
